Year 5 - Roman Day
Year 5 had a fun filled day full of Roman activities complete with a Roman visitor. The children were able to play a Roman game called Delta (which is a little like the game shove ha'penny), search for quiz answers and discover information about Roman artefacts. We were so impressed with the fantastic questions that the children asked our visitor, the children were all keen to learn more from Titus, our Roman. Thank you for all the support from home with the wonderful costumes – both staff and children looked amazing!
‘The game Delta was really fun but quite a challenge. We had to flick the coins and try to land on the largest number to get more points, adding them as you went. It was tricky because the numbers were in Roman Numerals.’ Riley
‘The best part of the day was the gladiator fight. All the year group sat in a circle while two gladiators fought. Each gladiator has a sword and a shield. To win, you had to hit your opponent three times. I was the winner!’ James R
‘In the afternoon, we learnt about Boudicca’s army; it was exhilarating. In the re-enactment, I was Boudicca and I led my tribe. Unfortunately, it was a trap and the Romans won.’ Bethany
